Mid week cruise to Ocean Village and more! 19th to 22nd April 2016

The briefing was held at 20.00 hours in the yacht club bar, always a good place to start. The decision to go with forecast E 5/6 meant we shoukd have had a great charge into the Solent with the wind behind. The early start meant clearing the lock at 07.45 in loverly weather, as for the charge into the Solent, alas there was no wind. At this point we took a leaf from the motor section manual and motored for Ocean Village!

After a safe arrival in Ocean Village, we ate in the Sir Lucius Curtis Weatherspoon’s pub. A peaceful night the next morning saw us leave Ocean Village for Island Harbour at a more respectable 09.00 and most of us had a sail passing a huge tanker entering Southampton Water. Island Harbour is a tranquil marina at about as far down the Medina as a fixed keel Yacht can go easily. We all ate in Breeze restaurant on site and a very pleasant evening was had by all. The next day saw a forecast easterly 5/7, so we variously sailed /motored to Gosport Marina. That evening we ate in the New Bengal tandoori – a very good curry house joined by honorary cruisers Tony & Chris Dickenson. The last day saw us depart Gosport for Chichester and the end of the cruise.
