Port Hamble & Cowes Cruise: 27-29 April

Given we were down to just to just three CYC boats – us, the cruise leaders, deputies Bob & Carole on Raven and John & Mavis on Lady Kate, no formal briefing was considered necessary, given all are experienced cruisers.

Weather was forecast to be sun with a 5/6 from N or NW giving us flat seas and ideal sailing conditions.  We were joined by guest cruisers Dick and Trudi on Magenta to make up numbers and all arrived at Port Hamble at the same time, which given we all left from different Marinas was quite surprising! We ate in Dolce Vita restaurant following a pub crawl where we were made very welcome.

Next morning we departed to Cowes and Yacht Haven Marina with a northerly breeze giving us a gentle sail under foresail only. We ate together in Island Sailing Club. Next morning we all departed at 08.30 for a gentle sail back to home berths. Wind filled in from the NW and we had an excellent sail back past the forts to West Pole.
