All Section Visit to Royal Yacht Squadron Cowes
We’ve booked the Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes for a meal on Saturday 19th August. There will be no limit on dining numbers, but limited berthing available in the RYS harbour for about the first 10 yachts. Those further down the list will need to make their own berthing arrangements in one of the other Cowes marinas, and then come along in the evening to the RYS for the meal. Berthing availability will be confirmed nearer the time. As space is limited in the RYS harbour, and will involve rafting up, we ask that motor boats make their own berthing arrangements.
The menu and cost of the meal will also be advised nearer the time (We had an excellent buffet last year at £27.50 a head). We will be asking for everyone to pay up for the dinner beforehand through our office, as the RYS will not accept individual payments, and will invoice the club for the whole event. Only berthing costs are to be settled on the day.
This is an All Section Event, and we wish to provide berths on board our yachts (& motor boats) for dinghy section members who would like to travel with us and spend the night on board, so when you book onto the cruise can you please advise how many diners you will have from your boat, and also how many dinghy section members you could accommodate. Please also advise within comments box if you are a motor boat or yacht.
Any members who wish to travel by ferry and/or make their own accommodation arrangements and just join us for the meal are very welcome. Please just book onto the cruise but make it clear in the comments that you do not require a berth.
Departure before high tide at 10.12 BST on Saturday should provide enough tide to arrive at Cowes before the tide turns. An early start will be advisable for those returning on Sunday morning, the alternative being to return in the evening. There will be the usual cruise briefing at 2100 hrs on Friday night.
