What we Offer
Chichester Yacht Club is a RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Training Centre that runs the start sailing syllabus, as well as advanced sailing modules such as sailing with spinnakers and start racing.
We also provide other opportunities to get out on the water either driving powerboats or on our fabulous new paddleboards!
Club training
Our scheduled sessions can be found HERE, or both our training sessions as well as all the wider activities around the club can be found in the what's on tab above. For any session enquiries, questions or assistance with selecting which course is best for you, please reach out to training@cyc.co.uk.
We can organise 1-1 coaching with one of or wonderful instructors that fit around your schedule and offer an opportunity for a much more direct line of feedback, whether you are just starting out or want to really nail your roll-gybing technique we can set up a tailored workshop just for you! If you would prefer a bit of moral support or an enthusiastic cheerleader, we offer Floating Coach sessions. These allow you to practise on the water with a qualified coach and safety boat driver available to answer questions and provide feedback. Sessions are free to join, either in your own boat or you can hire one of ours and are planned week by week. Contact us if you would like to receive notifications on upcoming dates.
Powerboat courses
We offer powerboat handling level 1 and 2 courses as well as refresher sessions. Ideal for anyone looking to upskill their driving, interested in becoming a watersports instructor, looking at purchasing their own power craft or simply experience driving a RIB.
Dates are available on the Training Opportunities page and private courses for two or more people can also be arranged to suit your schedule. For more details, just get in touch.
Paddleboarding
Stand Up Paddleboarding is a fantastic way to get out on the water. In our taster sessions, a qualified British Stand Up Paddleboarding Association instructor will guide you through some of the self-reliance techniques and paddle strokes to get you out safely and enjoyably.
You can sign up for a scheduled session or organise a private group booking. If you bring four friends, you can take advantage of our offer of five spaces for the price of four. Contact us to find out more.
Land courses
As an RYA Recognised Training Centre, CYC offer the RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship Course and RYA Day Skipper Theory Course, and a range of Club Theory Sessions on subjects such as tidal heights, tidal streams, pilotage and passage planning.
Talks, lectures, peer-to-peer advice sessions are scheduled on a variety of subjects throughout the year: boat electrics, plumbing, communications, radio and charts. Our Yacht and Motor sections benefit from a wealth of experienced members who are always happy to provide informal coaching.
Dinghy hire
CYC is proud to own a training fleet of Optimists, Toppers, Qbas, Laser 1s and an RS 2000 and they are all available for hire during normal operating hours.
