Racing Pathway for Youth Sailors
The aim of these sessions is to make racing fun, develop great fundamentals and create a lifelong love of sailing. Our aim is to develop junior racing at CYC.
Each session will introduce you to and help you develop your racing skills and will include sessions on start line technique, rounding the mark, sailing up wind, sailing downwind. The sessions will be led by a qualified instructor.
All participants on these sessions should have RYA level 3.

These will be run during the summer months and school holiday weeks and will be held over consecutive days, allowing sailors consistency in learning.
Youth Turbo Regatta
A fun event for youth sailors, a series of short races in quick succession, hours of fun on the water.
Coached Race sessions
These will be run as part the dinghy race session. There will be an instructor on the water, making sure that you get round the course and helping you make the best course.
These sessions are for both youths and adults.
Sail Away
Escorted by a rib we will sail up to Dell Quay or perhaps to Itchenor, destination will depend on the win. These sessions will allow you to experience sailing a little further away from CYC. These adventures may even include an ice cream stop!
Family Fun Day
Exactly as it says, fun for all the family, there will be the opportunity to try out a boat, join in a sail, perhaps you would like to bring your sail board or your kayak and join in the fun.
Assistant Instructor Course
Assistant Instructor (AI) courses will be run throughout the season. If you are a young person who would like to build up your experience before becoming qualifying as a dinghy instructor (DI) or perhaps you are a parent who wants to be more hands on helping your child to sail, then please attend one of these courses.
As a parent helper you will be able to become a Pontoon Parent giving you the knowledge and the confidence to your child and others getting on and off the water. As a young person wanting to become a DI, becoming an AI is the ideal way to build up your knowledge and gain confidence.
