Dinghies: Social sailing
Social Sailing sessions are run throughout the year. They are not training sessions but are an opportunity for members to sail in company with a patrol boat (assuming a volunteer helm is available) on the water to provide assistance if needed.
Club members can sign up for free by completing the registration form for the event via the club website calendar in the same way as racing events. To provide a Patrol Boat the following conditions must be met:
- There must be a volunteer helm registered on the event registration page
- The helm must have a RYA PB2 accreditation.
- There must be a minimum of 3 registered dinghies
- Any help can only be provided within line-of-sight of the PB. For example, if the group decides on a cruise all must go and stay in LOS of the PB.
Social Sailing can proceed without a Patrol Boat with sailors supporting each other but they must say in LOS of each other.
In addition to the sailing, there is a social side to this event where sailors can meet up afterwards for refreshments in the club house.
Dinghy cruises are organised from time to time to cruise beyond Chichester Lake and explore the beauty of the harbour. These are organised via the Cruising and Social Sailing WhatsApp group.
