Dell Quay Regatta

Another brilliant day on the water for CYC rowers at the Dell Quay Regatta.  Our lovely neighbours hosted a well organised, fun and competitive regatta for 7 local clubs with Celtic Longboats. Each race was competitively fought with only a few seconds dividing the top placed clubs over a 2.6km course.  There was a chilly wind and a strong tide running against the boats on the first half of the course, but a hard row, tasty soup and large wedges of cake kept everyone happy.  The swans performed a fly past during the men's race in recognition of everyone's efforts!  

CYC rowed very well once again.  The ladies team achieved 3rd place, with 29 seconds dividing the top 3.  The men's team came 4th, just 1 min 31 seconds off the lead boat.  Our mixed team also placed 4th, only 1 minute 14 seconds from the 1st boat and CYC crew for the event for novice racers came a brilliant 2nd, only 12 seconds from 1st place!

We have one more race in the Celtic Winter Series in 2 weeks time at Emsworth, but plenty more other regattas and events planned for the year.
